MU Presentations Mrs Valerie Stewart and Mrs Kathleen Kettyles retirement from MU Office Mrs Willa Wilson 50 years membership of the Mothers’ Union.
On Wednesday evening 29th March 2017, at the invitation of the rector, the Bishop, the Rt Rev John McDowell, as diocesan chaplain to the Mothers' Union, presented Mrs Valerie Stewart and Mrs Kathleen Kettyles with gifts to mark their retirement from office in the local branch of the Mothers' Union of Derryvullen South and Garvary parishes. Mrs Stewart had been branch leader since arriving in the parishes 27 years ago and Mrs Kettyles had been branch secretary of Derryvullen South branch for the past 17 years. A keen reader Mrs Stewart received a Kindle and a deluxe Church Hymnal; a good time keeper Mrs Kettyles received a lovely wrist watch and deluxe Church Hymnal. Both ladies were presented with flowers by Mrs Freda Beacom and Mrs Betty Little. Both ladies were delighted with their presents and much appreciated the kind thoughts of the members in arranging the presentation. A card specially designed for the occasion was presented to each of the two ladies and was inscribed with the names of everyone associated with the presentation and is an enduring reminder of their friends in the Mothers' Union. Mrs Anne Rowley succeeded Mrs Stewart as branch leader and Mrs Freda Burleigh succeeded Mrs Kettyles as branch secretary. On Sunday 9th April 2017 the rector, Chancellor John W Stewart, congratulated Mrs Willa Wilson and presented her with her certificate marking fifty years membership of the Mothers’ Union.
